Pumpkin Bread and Rootbeer

Hiya everyone!!!

This last week was crazy busy and also crazy good!!! There was so much that happened, but the biggest thing was General Conference! I loved every minute of it and I encourage anybody who hasn't watched it to listen to it!! One of the main takeaways I got from conference was to turn away from wordly things and come unto Jesus Christ because He wants each and every one of us to come to Him. I have felt my Savior's love for me so much and know that the words from our prophet and apostles and leaders of the church are true. One of the quotes I love was from President Nelson's talk. He was talking about how the world tries to convince us that worldy things will bring us happiness but they won't! ''It's more exhausting to seek happiness where you can never find it!'' But we can all find happiness in Jesus Christ and I truly know and testify of that:)

Other highlights from the week:

-Monday we went and toured Durham cathedral!! It was amazing and breathtaking. The corridors in the cathedral are where parts of Harry Potter was filmed so that was so cool!!

-we went to a place called Toby Carvery, which is pretty popular here, with one of our members! It is basically buffet style, Thanksgiving dinner. And you can just pile your plate up, and man did people do just that. I couldn't believe the portions people got. They say everything is bigger in America...but I'm not sure about that haha

-we taught our first English class this Wednesday!! We had two people from Turkey and two people from Brazil. It was just so amazing because they were so happy and willing to learn English. After we had the lesson with them we taught a little lesson about having resilience turning turbulent times. I loved it:) We are teaching english classes once a week now!

-went on exchanges this week with Sister Foster!! We had a great day, did a lot of finding, a couple lessons and what have ya. We got chicken chow mein from a sketchy chinese restaurant and ate it at a castle. It was magical haha.

-met a 93 year old man in the park named Bruce who walks there 5 times a week! He was very kind and looks like the ''bad guy'' old man in the movie Up

-I hit 4 months this week!! That was wild, feels like just yesterday I started the MTC

-froze in the pouring rain again, but it is starting to become a common thing

-met our sweet old lady Clovis in the park again!! I think she forgot that she told us this before because we went through the whole story about how my name comes from her name. But that's ok, she basically did our job for us because she stopped her friends as they came by and told them we are the missionaries and made them talk to us.

-Saturday we went to watch the first session of general conference at the Nolan's in our ward. They invited Stephen to come along and he loved it!! This was his first time watching it and he was blown away!! after we had a meal with them. Their 13 year old son made a rhubarb crumble for dessert but we quickly found out that he used cumin instead of cinnamon. Oh the good food times:)

-because of the time difference we watch the second session of general conference at our flat because its from 9-11pm. So you know what that means...mega couch out of matttresses and good ol general conference snacks

-made my first pumpkin bread this week!! It was delicious! What's funny is that they don't sell pumpkin here, and no one really has pumpkin anything. So my amazing mom hopped on Amazon UK and sent me some and I was able to make it! We brought it to members and they think it's strange at first but they love it!!

-also they don't have rootbeer here, but we found some in this special grocery store!! So we got that for general conference as well:)

Anyways, this week was awesome and I hope you all have a great coming week!!

Love,

Sis Jepp:)
