Hello!! This week has been both very chill but also very crazy all in one!!
Here are the crazy parts:
-Biggest announcement is that on Monday I got a call from my mission president saying that I am going to England on August 9th. WOOT WOOT!! I am super excited and for sure a little nervous. I am also sad to leave here because I love Rancho Cucamonga!! But there will be so many adventures ahead of me I think. So that has been the craziness that has been going through my mind all week.
-transfers are tomorrow and Sister T is getting transferred to Chino Hills and they are replacing our area with Elders!! So for one week I am going to be in Upland with Sister Linton and I am SO EXCITED!!! She is in a four person apartment with Sister Madsen and my favorite Sister Fisi'ipeau so I am stoked!! It will be a party
-I hit my two month mark as a missionary! Time does weird things here because it feels like I started my mission yesterday. which is crazy because that means the rest of my mission will fly by and I don't want it to because I LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY!!
Here are the chill parts:
- did a couple days of service at the community garden again which is always fun. we planted about 200 onions haha
- did a lot of finding and knocking on doors this week which I always find very fun
- went on a super sketchy street (don't worry we were in broad daylight), and talked to these two creepy dudes who were hitting on us. One of them said he thought he was dreaming seeing two pretty girls walk up to him and he invited us to go swimming, yea super creepy. the other one told us that the angel moroni is in the satanic bible so yea. oh they also told me I look like Lindsey Lohan...it is fun to be a missionary haha.
- we had a lot of good lessons this week! One of the lessons always is so sweet and filled with the spirit. It is with our friend Dave. He is about 80 years old and doesn't have a mouth because of cancer. So our lessons are us talking and then he will write stuff down and so forth. He has had some crazy trials but is so faithful through it all. Pray for him this week as he goes in for more surgery to remove more cancer they found. He also asked about the requirements for baptism this week and has been thinking about it!!
-went to a member's house for dinner and they gave us each a steak that was HUGE, it was bigger than my hand. I tried my best to eat as much as I could, but I have never seen that much meat in my life haha
Oh and last thing, yesterday I gave a talk in church about how following the prophet has blessed my life, and let me tell you IT HAS SO MUCH!! I have the strongest testimony that we have a living prophet on the Earth today who leads and guides Christ's church. God has promised us that if we follow the prophet, we WILL NOT go astray, for the prophet will be an anchor of eternal truth for us. What a comfort and a blessing that is.
Also, shoutout to Elder LaPlante who shared this quote with me last week, "When we put God first, all other things fall into their proper place or drop out of our lives." (Ezra Taft Benson). I loved that quote and know it is so true. I love the gospel!!
