Hiya everyone!!!
Hope all is well:) I hit my 9 month mark this week!! Halfway there!! Woot woot! It genuinely has flown by, like I have no clue where the time went and it makes me so sad because I don't want only 9 more months!!! I love it here. But yes my back is broken. haha not actually, but it feels like it. One thing no one ever tells you is that the beds are awful. I am pretty sure these are the same beds that were slept on by missionaries like 10 years ago. In Darlo I slept in a canyon and now I am sleeping in a ''V''. It is fantastic:) haha all jokes aside, I am doing fantastic and love every second of being a missionary!!
Some fun things that happened this week:
-gave multiple sets of elders a run for their money beating them in spikeball this past pday
-Funny Story Alert:
So we went finding in this cutest tiny village and Sister Sousa thought that we should knock on a red door. As we were walking we saw this old Methodist church with two red doors and a sign that said ''Coffee shop open''. Now obviously we didn't go in there for the coffee, but we thought it would be a good way to meet some people in there in what not. Ok, now remember that scene in Elf where Buddy runs into the coffee shop and announces that it's the world's best coffee shop? and then everyone just stares at him blankly? Well, we got that exact same effect without saying anything as we walked into the room of about 18 old people haha. It was awesome. But they ended up giving us free scones and we got to talk to a lot of them which was fun. And we bought their £2 red currant jam to be nice:)
-Another Funny Story Alert:
We went to visit an old man in our ward and we were standing on the front porch because we couldn't go in, just chatting away. Then before we left we offered to pray with him and so Sister Sousa starts praying and during the prayer I hear someone come up behind her. I open my eyes and there is this man standing right next to her. But he stays silent, she keeps praying, and the member doesn't notice so I just close my eyes and keep going. Well she ends the prayer, and when she does, the man, with the DEEPEST voice ever, goes ''Amennnnnnn'', scaring the living daylights out of Sister Sousa because she apparently didn't hear him haha. I was dying, it was hilarious. He was the member's neighbor and just wanted to join in on our prayer. Precious.
- went to Shwarma on Wednesday with the district and man it's so awkward. Shwarma is the place that every guy who works construction or any painting job or what not goes for work. And so, at 12, you can imagine like 20+ guys in this tiny sketchy meat on a stick restaurant, and me and Sister Sousa...yea...awkward. haha they are all super nice though so it's alright.
-went to get a sweet treat with the Hull sisters
-went and blitzed Harrogate!! That just means all four of us sisters where in the same area for a day.
-AND GUESS WHO I WAS COMPANIONS WITH?!?! Sister Lucas, my day one. It was the most fun thing ever because we have been through everything together, but not at the same time because we have never been companions. But that day we were and it was so sweet. We talked non stop, all about how much we have grown, the best experiences, the lows, just everything. And we saw so many miracles that day too! We found 4 families!!!
-Saturday we had a really good day work wise. Meaning we went out and gave it our all, but with zero success. Pretty much everyone rejected us. But that's ok! Because we knew we were showing Heavenly Father that we are giving Him everything we have! And we have to face that rejection sometimes, because if we got accepted 100% of the time, where would the trial of our faith be, where would we grow? So i am grateful for the opportunites that we have to grow out here:)
I am just so grateful for the past 9 months I have spent as a missionary!! I Love it so much and am so excited to still have 9 more months!! Who knows, maybe I will just stay here! ;)
Love,
Sis Jepp:)
